Travelling in and out of the Mobilis network

Travelling in zones shared with other fare networks

Agreements have been signed with neighbouring fare networks to allow Mobilis ticket holders to travel beyond the canton and within zones shared with other fare networks. Within these shared zones, you can travel using either a Mobilis ticket or a ticket purchased from the other fare network.

Journeys outside the Mobilis network

Mobilis tickets are valid on trains and buses up to the final stop or from the first stop located within the shared network area, depending on the timetable (when the vehicle stops) and zones purchased.

The direct train rule

Local travel tickets are not valid for vehicles whose first scheduled stop is outside the Mobilis network. This rule also works if you are travelling the other way round. For both cases, you would have to purchase a national fare ticket before departure.

Examples:

With a Mobilis travel ticket (already purchased) Planned route Purchase before departure
Zones 20 / 21 / 22 Nyon-Geneva on a train that stops in Coppet Ordinary ticket Coppet-Geneva
Zones 20 / 21 / 22 Nyon-Geneva on a train that doesn’t stop in Coppet Ordinary ticket Nyon-Geneva
All zones Lausanne-Geneva on a train that has no stops en route Ordinary ticket Lausanne-Geneva
All zones Lausanne-Geneva on a train that stops in Nyon Ordinary ticket Nyon-Geneva

Travelling outside zones covered by a travelcard

If your journey continues beyond the valid area of your Mobilis travelcard, you will need to purchase a Journey Extension ticket for the number of uncovered zones.

With Mobilis travelcard Planned route Purchase before departure
Zones 11 / 12 Lausanne-Morges Journey Extension with 2 zones (33/30)

Combining zones with direct trips outside the network

A City Ticket is ideal if you wish to take advantage of local fare zones while also travelling outside of the Mobilis network. It allows you to combine a journey between two cities with the local fare zones of one or both of these cities, at a discounted price.

City Tickets include a one-way or return trip with a zone day pass.

For example, a City Ticket between Morges and Geneva including Mobilis zone 30 and Unireso zone 10 would allow you to travel between Morges and Geneva AND use the public transport in both cities for the entire day.

Half Fare Travelcards

Half Fare Travelcards give passengers discounted prices for public transport throughout Switzerland. With this travelcard, you can get up to 50% off Mobilis tickets and day passes.

Combining zones with direct trips outside the network

A Modular Travelcard is ideal if you wish to take advantage of local fare zones while also travelling outside of the Mobilis network. It allows you to combine a journey between two cities with the local fare zones of one or both of these destinations, at a discounted price.

A monthly or annual Modular Travelcard includes a travelcard for the route and for the zone(s).

For example, a Modular Travelcard between Morges and Geneva including Mobilis zone 30 and Unireso zone 10 would allow you to travel between Morges and Geneva AND use the public transport in both cities as many times as you wish.
