In 2022, attractive offers and discounted tickets will encourage sustainable mobility

At a time when the urgency of climate change is at the heart of our concerns, the way we think about getting around is of the utmost importance. Aware of this challenge, the Canton of Vaud has been committed for several years to developing its public transport offer and infrastructure. In 2022, it is joining forces with the Mobilis tariff community in Vaud to offer two reduced-price products - the monthly weekend pass and the Duo day pass - as part of the cantonal vaudloisirs.ch campaign. Supersaver tickets, valid within the Mobilis perimeter, will also be introduced on a permanent basis from June.  

The impact of our journeys is particularly heavy on the environment: at present, they generate 40% of the canton's greenhouse gas emissions. In comparison, the use of public transport significantly reduces our carbon footprint, with 20 times fewer emissions produced by our train journeys and 7 times fewer for urban transport.

With this in mind, the Canton of Vaud has for many years been encouraging the use of this sustainable, efficient and comfortable mode of transport, whether through the ongoing development of service and infrastructure, but also by offering advantageous deals for the population. The vaudloisirs.ch campaign, deployed since 2021 in partnership with the Mobilis Vaud fare community - with the support of the region's 13 transport companies, municipalities and the canton's economic and tourism players - reflects this joint desire to meet today's sustainability and quality of life objectives.

In 2022, two new offers will be made available as part of this cantonal campaign, focusing on leisure activities:

• MONTHLY WEEKEND MEMBERSHIP - from April 14 to July 15, 2022
  Allows free travel on all Mobilis fare zones, from Friday evening 7.00 pm to the last service on Sunday evening, for 1 month, in^2nd class, including public holidays. Renewable subscription sold at CHF 19.00 for Mobilis subscribers, CHF 39.00 for non-subscribers.

• THE DUO DAILY CARD - from October 15, 2022 to February 28, 2023
  Allows two people to travel freely in all Mobilis fare zones for one day, without restriction on weekdays, weekends and public holidays, at the single price of CHF 39.

In order to offer reduced-price travel to the entire population of the Canton of Vaud - regardless of the reason for travel - supersaver tickets will be available on a permanent basis within the scope of the Mobilis Vaud Fare Community from June^1, 2022. Like existing Swiss supersaver tickets, these will be subject to advance purchase and will be valid only on the chosen route and timetable. Available in^2nd or^1st class via digital channels, Mobilis Supersaver Tickets will offer up to 70% off the price of a standard ticket.

In this way, the Canton and Mobilis intend to offer long-term, low-cost services that meet the actual needs of the population, following the example of the services deployed in 2021 (companion card and Extension abo day pass), which enabled almost 40,000 users to benefit from low-cost journeys.
