On a chilly Friday morning (December 1), the Yverdon-les-Bains railway station was the scene of a landmark event for TRAVYS, the emblematic transport company of the northern Vaud region. In the presence of Mr Daniel REYMOND, General Manager of TRAVYS, and Mr Philippe FLÜCKIGER, Commercial Manager of the Communauté Tarifaire Vaudoise (Mobilis), a warm welcome was extended to the 5 millionth passenger of the year.
This milestone not only underlines TRAVYS' continued success, but also heralds a potential record in ridership. Since its inception over two decades ago, the company has gone from strength to strength, and current data suggest a significant 4% increase over the same period in 2019, a pre-pandemic baseline year.
The figures for 2022 had already demonstrated TRAVYS' resilience and adaptability in the face of the challenges posed by the global health crisis. Today, with some 4.8 million annual passengers recorded before the advent of Covid, the company is well positioned to reach, if not surpass, 5.5 million passengers by the end of this year.
The steady increase in ridership reflects not only the efficiency and reliability of TRAVYS services, but also the region's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. By aiming for a steady increase in passenger numbers, TRAVYS is demonstrating the importance of a solid, responsive public transport infrastructure, essential to the economic and social well-being of Northern Vaud.
With TRAVYS' commitment to operational excellence and innovation, coupled with the unwavering support of the Communauté Tarifaire Vaudoise, the future of public transport in the region looks bright. The target of 5.5 million passengers is within reach, marking a new milestone in the history of TRAVYS and testifying to the renewed confidence of users in their daily transport network.
