From Monday, May 4, to Sunday, June 28, 2026, we are conducting a survey on the types of tickets used on the Mobilis network. Please show your ticket or pass when approached by Mobilis surveyors.
This survey is conducted anonymously. Any personal data containing a name or photo will be deleted two months after the survey.
Thank you in advance for your valuable cooperation!
How does it work?

When traveling by train, bus, subway, or funicular, a Mobilis inspector may ask you to show your ticket, which they will photograph using a tablet. If you present your SwissPass card, the device will read the information via the QR code.
These staff members can be identified by the yellow "Investigator" vest they wear, as well as by a badge featuring the Mobilis logo.
What data is collected?
The following data is collected on the basis of photographs of tickets or by reading the QR code on your SwissPass:
Personal information: last name, first name, photo. This information is not processed during this survey; it is automatically stored securely and deleted two months after the survey.
Service details: type of ticket, category, class, number of zones, zone numbers, validity dates, time and place of purchase, price, departure point, and destination.

A program for identifying transit tickets automatically automatically anonymizes the data and classifies these transit tickets into the appropriate categories based on their duration (single-ride ticket/pass/etc.), the number of zones, and the type (general pass, Mobilis pass, etc.).
All data is stored securely and destroyed two months after the survey.
What are these data used for?
As the Vaud fare network, Mobilis brings together 15 public transportation companies operating in the canton of Vaud. Every Mobilis ticket sold generates revenue, which is then distributed among these companies. Using the data collected in this survey, we ensure that this revenue is distributed fairly and in a manner that closely reflects actual ticket usage.
Note: These inspectors do not check tickets; they are not authorized to issue citations for traveling without a valid ticket. This task is the exclusive responsibility of authorized personnel from transportation companies.
Further information
This survey method has been validated by the Swiss Federal Data Protection Commissioner.
You will find more information on data protection within the public transport sector and the Communauté tarifaire vaudoise in our data protection declaration.
